Barry Kaye Auditorium - 10:15 AMKeynote Presentation by Sara Lowery
Speaker and Associate Director of Fraternity and Sorority Leadership & Learning University of DelawareOften times we are put in situations where we have to decide if we want or can follow the leaders that are before us. But how often do we look in the mirror and ask ourselves would we follow ourselves? Do you have the talents and skills and you admire in leaders? What characteristics are you lacking?
In this leadership keynote, Sara Lowery takes an old business approach and reframe it for a more personal leadership approach by starting with assessing ourselves first to determine if we are being the best leader that anyone would want to follow at any time. Sara gives tips and strategies on how to overcome that fear and create the largest impact as a leader. - 11:00 AMCooldown & Snacks

Grand Palm 3 - 12:05 PMGlobal (Crossplay)Public Speaking as Advocacy
Presented by Cynthia CarricoAccording to mapes in Speak Out, Call in: Public Speaking as Advocacy, public speaking is a crucial form of advocacy and civic engagement. Being an excellent civil servant means listening to information that is relevant to your community and using public outlets to voice your ideas. When we think about those that impacted us the most, we often think back to a teacher, mentor, or community leader; someone that typically captured attention daily by providing information through stories and examples that felt relatable, reasonable, and relevant. Life is a 24-hour, 365 days a-year conversation. It is both an internal and external dialogue. Equipping future leaders with the skill to speak in public gives them the ability to do incredible things: they can inspire, change, and unite people or, at the very least, connect others effectively. This workshop will help aspiring leaders speak with passion, clarity, and impact by teaching how speaking is purposeful information sharing.
