- 12:01 AM23h 58mSPOT (Student Perception of Teaching) -Fall 2023 First 5 WeeksSPOT is an anonymous and effective tool given at the end of each semester to help evaluate the quality of instruction and improve the university’s education standards.Departments, schools, and colleges use individual instructor data and comments in annual evaluations, as well as for tenure and promotion. SPOT results are presented to the faculty in summary form after the end of the semester. Individual SPOT responses are completely anonymous and remain anonymous. The faculty has no way of linking a SPOT to a particular student.

- 1:00 PM2hKay Carpenter Scholarship Pinning CeremonyNursing scholarship recipients will be recognized on Wednesday, September 20th, as they will receive the prestigious Kay Carpenter pin, symbolizing the values of "Honor, Reciprocity, and Joy". Founders, Kay Carpenter and B.G. Carter, created this scholarship fund to become a never-ending cycle of philanthropy, as past scholarship recipients are encouraged to give back to the fund once they graduate to support current students. Retired nurses will proudly present these meaningful pins to the scholarship recipients during the ceremony that will be held in the college's atrium from 1:00pm - 3:00 p.m.

Professors Taylor Hagood and Mark Scroggins will read from recent work on Wednesday September 20 at 7pm in the Majestic Palm Room at FAU Boca Raton.Taylor Hagood is the author, most recently, of Stringbean: The Life and Murder of a Country Music Legend. He teaches American literature at FAU, with specialization in the writing of William Faulkner, African American literature, disability studies, thing studies, and the literature and culture of the United States South. Increasingly, he is exploring comparative approaches that span disciplines, such as ecocriticism, animal studies, and the Anthropocene. His books include Secrecy, Magic, and the One-Act Plays of Harlem Renaissance Women Writers and Faulkner: Writer of Disability.Mark Scroggins taught in the FAU English department for many years. He is a poet, biographer, and critic. His recent books include the poetry collection Pressure Dressing, the essay collection The Mathematical Sublime: Writing About Poetry, and a selection of the erotic poetry of Algernon Charles Swinburne.
