Hello Accounting Student Association Members, Join us today, October 3rd, 2023, during our professional development workshop with The Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA). The Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) is a professional membership organization headquartered in Orlando. The FICPA represents approximately 18,500 CPAs and accounting professionals in Florida and beyond. The FICPA provides opportunities for professional development, knowledge sharing, networking, community involvement, leadership and camaraderie while lobbying the Florida Legislature on issues that affect CPAs and promoting the CPA designation. Owl Film is a new film club that just watches film and have fun discussions after wards! Come to the General Interest meeting coming soon, that will be the starting point of the club coming together with ideas and what your films are looking like this semester! - First Meeting of Chess ClubGood day! If you're reading this, you're likely a member of the Chess Club at Florida Atlantic. This is a reminder that last Wednesday, on the 20th, at 5 PM, we had our first chess club meeting. We had a very nice turnout for our first meeting, where we introduced our plans for further club development and the acquisition of necessary materials, which should be nearly fully settled! We also showed a game review of one of the most famous games in historical chess, the game of the century between Bobby Fischer and Donald Byrne, where at just 13 years old, Fisher beat the very accomplished US representative at multiple world chess olympiads, Donald Byrne. Next Wednesday, we plan to host many in-person games, along with some puzzle solving.
