FAU Board of Trustees Extends President Volnick's Agreement
Stacy Volnick’s term as FAU Interim President extended
The Florida Atlantic University Board of Trustees today approved an extension of Stacy Volnick’s term as FAU interim president to the end of the 2024 calendar year, or unless a permanent president is hired, whichever is sooner.
“President Volnick has done an exemplary job,” said FAU Board of Trustees Chair Brad Levine. “I am proud of what she has achieved and how gracefully she has guided the university, which is why I gave her the highest review rating allowed.”
Volnick has served as FAU interim president since January during an exciting year for the university. The FAU men’s basketball team made its historic run to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament, the university rose in several important rankings, and welcomed one of the largest incoming freshman classes in its history, among other achievements.
“I am honored to be recognized by the board for my performance,” said Volnick. “I look forward to working with the trustees, faculty, staff and students to push Florida Atlantic’s continued progress to new heights.”
Volnick became a member of the university’s administrative staff in 1991, advancing steadily through the ranks. In 2013, she became vice president for administrative affairs and chief administrative officer, and more recently, she was promoted to chief operating officer. A three-time alumna, she earned a doctorate and master’s degree in educational leadership from FAU’s College of Education, as well as a bachelor’s degree in communication from the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. Appropriately, her doctoral dissertation addressed the challenges facing women college presidents.
Before her current appointment, Volnick oversaw areas vital to the continuing operations of the university. These include public safety, facilities management, environmental health & safety, human resources, business services, emergency management, Board of Trustees operations, president’s office operations, the Eleanor R. Baldwin House (the president's on-campus residence), and the university ombudsman. Additionally, she administratively oversees the Offices of the Inspector General and University Compliance.
