Owls Post Highest Fall GPA in School History
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University student-athletes continue to raise the bar and have done so once again by posting a department-wide 3.15 grade point average, the highest fall in school history.
The Owls first climbed above the 3.0 mark in the fall of 2015 (3.012) and have not fallen below a 3.0 since. The spring of 2022 marked the 14th consecutive semester, or seventh year, that FAU student-athletes have combined for a 3.0+ GPA, and that has now been extended to 15 consecutive semesters.
"I am very proud of our student-athletes for achieving the highest fall GPA in the athletic department's history," said Brian White, FAU's vice president and director of athletics. "This is a testament to their hard work and determination as well as the dedication of our academic staff and the emphasis that our coaches place on academic success each and every day."
In total, 276 of the 427 student-athletes representing FAU posted a 3.0+ GPA or 64.6 percent, in the fall of 2022. The breakdown by gender saw the women's teams combine for a 3.348 GPA, while the men recorded a 3.013 average. The women's golf team led the way for all teams with a 3.684 average. Men's cross country was second at 3.561 and led all men's teams. Each of the 11 women's teams were above a 3.0 GPA, while six of the eight men's teams were above a 3.0.
A perfect 4.0 GPA was achieved by 32 student-athletes, eight more than a year ago. The breakdown was an even 16 between men and women earning the highest possible GPA and a spot on the President's List (noted ^). A total of 161 student-athletes earned a spot on the Dean's List, while 29 were enrolled as graduate students, which is not eligible for either list.
