BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic Athletics has named its Prestige Windows & Doors Student-Athletes of the Month for February with men's golfer NaShawn Tyson and Charlotte Perkins from the women's golf team receiving the honors.
The monthly awards are presented to a male and female Florida Atlantic student-athlete to recognize their excellence in the classroom. FAU's athletic academic staff votes on the award. It is the first time this duo has received the honors.
"NaShawn is a pre-business major who has been thriving in the classroom while traveling across the country with the men's golf team. He demonstrates what it means to be a student-athlete while performing well in difficult courses for his major while in the height of his season. We are proud to recognize NaShawn's hard work in the classroom." - Megan Caudle, Athletic Academic Advisor of SASC
"Charlotte is a sophomore on our women's golf team who continues to show excellence on and off the course. She is pursuing a degree in communications and has consistently been on the President's List every semester she has attended FAU which requires a 4.0 term GPA. Charlotte just took home her first career victory at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational while maintaining her academics and is deserving of this recognition for her consistent hard work and dedication. Great job Charlotte! " - Caitlyn Shumate, Athletic Academic Advisor/Learning Specialist.
